“We’ll be shooting a video” used to be a euphemism for “We’ll be spending a ton of your money”.
Video is an amazing tool to tell a brand story, but traditionally few people could afford it. Thankfully, things are changing and we’re driving that change.
When he was still working for traditional ad agencies, Andreas, one of our founding partners, traveled the world shooting big, expensive TV commercials like this one:
To say that he understands video production and broadcast production is a bit of an understatement. When we started fisheye, we were aware of the importance of video as a storytelling medium from day one. But those days, the only way to get anything done, including producing and shooting video content, was to roll up our sleeves and do it ourselves. Nobody else was crazy enough to work for the kind of cash we had on offer.
Then a funny thing happened. We won more business and budgets got bigger, but it was too late – producing our video content in-house, fast, good and smart, had already become part of our culture. We had discovered that we could do cool stuff, all the time that way. We could over-service our clients like crazy with videos that got amazing viewer responses, without bankrupting them or ourselves. Which is how we found ourselves with our very own fully fledged video production department.
We’re still working this way, consistently punching way above our weight and loving every minute of it. We produce video content that covers everything from live-streamed baking shows to branded content to teen magazine stories to time lapses shot with a deer cam.
